JD Caldwell, AIA, is the founder & principal of the Memphis-based firm, JD Caldwell Architect, PLLC.  A Memphis native, JD is inspired by the vernacular landscape & structures that populate this region.  Having 20 years of experience in both the commercial & residential realms, his design philosophy is informed through the authentic expressions of home and materials.  JD graduated from Auburn University’s architectural program in 2003 with multiple years spent at the prestigious Rural Studio design program.  

The firm’s primary focus is to create bespoke and well-crafted residences that reflect the priorities and personalities of their owners and settings.  Each client is different, and therefore each home is different.  Our process is an integrated approach that involves not only the client & architect, but craftsmen, contractors, engineers, and all manner of consultants.  A collaborative team environment provides for a wealth of knowledge and expertise that creates a well-crafted home.  It is a priority to not only produce a successful project, but to also enjoy the process.  In order to accomplish this, we are heavily involved from design concept through the end of construction.
